1.0  Examine one of the ping request packets sent by your host. What are the ICMP type and code numbers? What other fields does this ICMP packet have? How many bytes are the checksum, sequence number and identifier fields?

            The Internet Control Message Protocol Type is 8 which relay to (Echo (ping) request) and Code number is 0.  Other fields included in the packet are Identifier, Checksum, and Sequence Number and the Response Time. Response Time can be termed to be the total latency time between the source and destination. They are each 2 bytes long.

The following shows number of bytes in each field:

Identifier: (BE): 1

Identifier: (LE): 256

Checksum: 0x4d3b

Sequence Number (LE): 8192

Sequence Number (BE): 32
