  • Introduction

Eton College is one of the leading independent schools in the U.K. which has the following stakeholders on campus –

  • Students (1300)
  • Teaching Staff (~200)

The entire campus has over 400 building which all have multiple systems which require network access.

The number of devices each student accesses is atleast 3, looking at the future outlook we can assume that each stakeholder has access to 4 devices – Laptop, smartphone, tablet, and/or systems on the campus.

The idea is to create a seamless wireless network across the campus which is decentralised with a thin Access Points distributed all across the campus.

  • · Project scope

The IT infrastructure on the campus currently is for 700 access points, however there is still a huge gap in the number of access points required on the campus to allow all the students and teachers work across all the cloud-based applications and also access the internet for their work-related assignments.

The college has to create a higher number of access points to handle the network traffic expected currently as well as in the near future. The number of access points which need to be created are = 1500 people on campus with 4 access points each, that is a total of 6000 access points distributed over the campus to allow seamless connectivity to every one around the campus. We also need to keep in mind
