Tourism is second largest export earner of New Zealand. It has been observed that 1 out of 2 tourists in New Zealand engage themselves in adventure tourism during their stay in the country. As per the reports of 2012 it has been observed that tourism expenditure of New Zealand has reached more than $23 billion and adventure tourism is the biggest contributor to this development. In recent context, Adventure Tourism provides a holistic experience to the tourists. NZ government has been able to understand the global trend and has able to develop suitable infrastructure that has supported the growth of the sector. The purpose of this proposal is to highlight how adventure tourism contributed to the Tourism in South Island of NZ.
